I moved to Asia when I was 26. It was the summer of 2000. I studied at Beijing Languages and Cultural University. During my stay in 2001, I witnessed the celebrations for the assignment of the Olympic games of 2008 in Tian An Men square. That night I understood I wanted to transform my passion for photography into a job.
I was young and a dreamer.
During my years in Asia, I witnessed events like the typhoon Bopha in Mindanao in 2012, the elections in Myanmar in 2015, the war on drugs of President Duterte, and the protest in Hong Kong in 2014 and 2019.
I published a book of portraits of the protestors of Hong Kong 2019, Be Water - Iconografia di una protesta for Scalpendi Editori.
Through the years, I have collaborated with many newspapers and magazines like Courrier International, Nikkei Asian Review, Harper's magazine, Helsingin Sanomat, L'Illustrè, La Repubblica, The New York Times to name a few.
Raising awareness about social issues through the personal stories of people is the aspect of my job I prefer.
Now I live in Indonesia, where I have never been before. Moving to a new country is tiring, learning a new language and trying to understand a new culture, but extremely stimulating.
