There is something to learn in this life
There is little awareness in Bali of the needs of the disabled. Often there is no accommodation for disabled children in schools, and many of them can't attend school.
Often disabled children and adults are not seen as ordinary people with the exact needs as everybody else: get an education, socialise, get married, engage in sports, get a job, etc. Most resign themselves to their fate of being invisible and unwanted people.
Others, on the other hand, face life without giving up.
Through the radical acceptance of their situation, many families have found in love that they feel the strength to move forward in life. Filial love, parental love, love for a job and for friends.
Balinese people believe we are born or reborn because there is something we must learn in this life. Something we should have gotten in our previous ones.
We are born for a reason, and perhaps some are born disadvantaged because that is how they can learn to ask for or give love.
