Hong Kong does not Exist
People of Hong Kong often complain, saying: the city is changed. It was better in the past. But they never explain why the past was better.
My idea of Hong Kong is rooted in the movies of Wong Kar Wai, but, as the director said: "My films are never about Hong Kong is like, or anything approaching a realistic portrait, but what I think about Hong Kong and what I want it to be".
In a time of uncertainty for the future, anxiety is a feeling that permeates people's minds. Nostalgia becomes a shelter thanks to its strength to change our memories into something to our desires.
I unchained my desires and started to look for an invisible city hidden among the glass and steel of modern buildings. I searched for a place where the crummy reality was just the backdrop of an ideal universe shaped by the movies and where I wanted to live. I looked at the city with an eye of the past ( an old film camera), trying to create a Hong Kong that may have never existed.
